Opting for 20-inch tires reduces efficiency to 99 MPGe and 34 kWh/100 miles with 307 miles of range. The R2 weighs about 5,250 lbs and sports a boxier, rugged design, while housing an 86.8 kWh pack versus the Model Y’s 84 kWh. Pricing sits near parity: R2 starts at $57,990 (Launch Package) and Model Y Performance at $57,490. Real-world results remain to be seen, but Rivian presents a compelling, space‑rich alternative that matches Tesla on efficiency while offering more interior room and off‑road capability.
