Starcloud pitches 88,000-satellite space data center constellation

Starcloud has filed with the FCC to operate up to 88,000 low‑Earth‑orbit satellites to serve as orbital data centers for AI and other computing needs, placing them in dusk‑dawn sun‑synchronous shells at 600–850 km. The plan envisions intersatellite optical links and Ka‑band telemetry/control, with safety measures including coordination with other operators and full demisability on reentry. Starcloud‑1 has already flown a small satellite with an Nvidia H100 processor; Starcloud‑2 is planned for 2027, and there are concepts for Starcloud‑3 and Starcloud‑4, including a massive satellite array with multi‑kilometer dimensions. The Starcloud filing would create a constellation far larger than existing systems like Starlink (about 10,000 satellites) but smaller than SpaceX’s unfunded one‑million‑satellite proposal.

"Apple Vision Pro: Missing Ultra Wideband and Latest Wi-Fi, but Launching with Disney Plus 3D Movies"

The Apple Vision Pro appears to lack Ultra Wideband and the latest Wi-Fi technologies, such as Wi-Fi 6E or 7 chips, based on the official FCC filing. This is likely due to the hardware being developed around the M2 chip, while the latest MacBook Pro uses the M3 chip. Despite this, the Vision Pro will ship with Wi-Fi 6 support and not Wi-Fi 6E, and it will not include Ultra Wideband capabilities. However, there are other ways to support location tracking for the Vision Pro, and there is still much to be excited about with the device.

The FCC filing for the Samsung Galaxy SmartTag 2 reveals a new design with a larger loop and a white pill-shaped body. The tracker may come with ultra-wideband (UWB) connectivity for more precise tracking, and it is uncertain if it will support Google's Find My Device network or be limited to Samsung Galaxy phones. The release date for the tracker is still unknown.
