Archaeologists Uncover Gallo-Roman Wall in Paris, Potentially Settling Lutetia’s Location Debate
A 65-foot stone and wood wall from the Gallo-Roman period was found beneath the Hotel-Dieu on the Ile de la Cite in Paris. French officials call it a major breakthrough that may confirm the Ile de la Cite as the original site of Lutetia, resolving a long-standing debate with the Nanterre theory. Carbon dating places the charred remains between 10 and 200 B.C., aligning with the 52 B.C. Battle of Lutetia.
