IDF Court-Martials Soldiers for Refusing to Board APC With Female Medic
Several soldiers from the Givati Brigade’s Rotem Battalion were court-martialed after refusing to board an armored personnel carrier with a female paramedic following an overnight drill. Reports indicated some soldiers received prison sentences (e.g., four soldiers were said to have 10 days each) while others await verdicts. The IDF said the incident involved a gender-segregated operational framework and that command measures would follow the findings. The case comes alongside ongoing discussion about integrating women into combat roles, including a June pilot program for female Armored Corps soldiers, which prompted Hesder yeshivas to pause enlistment temporarily.
