North Carolina Speaker of the House, Tim Moore, is being sued by a former government official, Scott Lassiter, for allegedly having an affair with Lassiter's wife, Jamie Lassiter. The lawsuit claims that Moore pursued a sexual relationship with Mrs. Lassiter from 2019 to early January 2023. Lassiter is seeking damages in the amount of $200,000. Moore's attorney has stated that they are confident the speaker will be vindicated.

Indian Official Suspended for Draining Reservoir to Retrieve Phone

A government official in India has been suspended after he ordered a reservoir to be drained to retrieve his dropped phone, which was later found to be too waterlogged for use. The drained amount, more than 2m litres of water, was enough to irrigate 1,500 acres of farmland. India is one of the most water-stressed countries, with only 4% of its water resources and 18% of the global population. The official has been suspended until an inquiry is conducted.
