iOS 27 Brings AI in Home App That Requires 2TB iCloud+

Apple's notes for macOS Golden Gate beta reveal that the Home app's Apple Intelligence features—such as written summaries of motion alerts, grouped footage, and natural language search—will require an iCloud+ plan starting at 2TB on iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27. The 2TB plan costs $9.99/month and supports unlimited HomeKit Secure Video cameras; 50GB covers one camera, 200GB up to five. HomeKit storage does not count against iCloud+ storage, so the full 2TB remains for photos and data.

Apple ends legacy HomeKit, forcing upgrade to the rebuilt Home architecture by Feb 10, 2026

Apple will drop support for the original HomeKit architecture on February 10, 2026, meaning many smart-home devices may stop working in the Home app unless users upgrade to the rebuilt Home architecture. In the new setup, iPads no longer serve as Home Hubs and a HomePod or Apple TV is required as the hub, with iPhones/iPads/Macs and connected devices needing iOS 16.2+ (or macOS 13.1/watchOS 9.2+). Update the Home app now to avoid losing control of smart-home devices.
