
Meta trims 8,000 jobs and redeploys 7,000 into AI initiatives
Meta plans to lay off about 8,000 employees in three batches and move 7,000 to new AI-related initiatives, while eliminating managerial roles, per an internal HR document Reuters obtained. The restructuring aims to balance Meta’s capex budget of $125–$145 billion this year as it builds out its AI infrastructure; headcount was 77,986 at the last earnings report.
