Pennsylvania State Trooper Killed in I-81 Crash Involving Haitian Trucker
A Pennsylvania State Police trooper was killed when a semitruck struck his vehicle on Interstate 81 in Cass Township during a roadside inspection; the second truck, driven by 33-year-old Michael Bon, a Haitian national who had entered the U.S. as a parolee and later had his parole terminated, veered off the road and caused a fatal chain reaction. Bon, who obtained a non-domiciled CDL in Massachusetts and remained in the U.S. despite a DHS detainer, was charged with homicide by vehicle, reckless endangering, involuntary manslaughter and related offenses as authorities investigated the crash.
