American Airlines to add economy seatback screens by 2028

American Airlines will roll out seatback screens in economy on its narrowbody fleet starting in 2028, with a fleetwide rollout of the 876-mainline airplanes completed by the early 2030s; widebodies and the A321XLRs already have screens, while American Eagle regional jets will not. The move accompanies other upgrades including Starlink inflight connectivity on 500 planes, a push for more premium seating, and Admirals Clubs renovations, as the carrier seeks to close the gap with Delta and United.

United Airlines' Narrow-Body Cabin Revamp Delayed by Supply Chain Issues

United Airlines' plan to revamp the cabins on its older narrow-body planes is facing delays due to supply chain strains. The upgrades include bigger premium cabins, seat-back entertainment screens throughout the planes, Bluetooth capabilities, and other amenities. The airline previously expected to have 100 of its narrow-body planes retrofitted with the new interiors by the end of the year but now expects 60 will be complete by then. United has also said it expects to have more premium seats for sale for each departure than any other airline in North America by 2026.
