Intel Shifts Nova Lake Tile Production In-House Amid 18A Yield Gains
Intel is reportedly moving the majority of Nova Lake's compute-tile production in-house, shifting from an initial plan to dual-source with TSMC on the 2 nm N2 node to an 80-90% in-house plan on the 18A node. The uptick in 18A yields—defect rates around 0.1-0.2 and fewer delays—lets Intel scale internal production. Current capacity is about 30,000 wafers per month across Fab 52 (Phoenix) and Hillsboro, enough for Panther Lake but likely needing more capacity for Nova Lake before its consumer launch.
