iOS 27’s Siri AI: sign up for the waitlist to unlock a smarter assistant

Apple’s iOS 27 brings a much smarter Siri AI, but access is gated by a waitlist and initially limited to iPhones compatible with Apple Intelligence (e.g., iPhone 18 Pro/Pro Max, Duo, 17e, 17, 17 Pro/Pro Max, Air, 16e/16/16 Plus/16 Pro/Pro Max, 15 Pro/Pro Max). To join, go to Settings > Siri > Try Siri AI (Beta); wait times vary from minutes to days and a notification will appear once access is granted. Siri AI launches in English first, with French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish coming in October (likely as iOS 27.1). On-device processing handles most tasks, with Private Cloud Compute for more complex requests, and daily usage limits are noted but unspecified. EU availability is delayed due to regulatory issues. After approval, the Siri app will appear on your device and can be used by voice or text commands.

Rumor suggests iOS 27 will drop support for the iPhone 11 series and the 2nd‑generation SE, while continuing compatibility with iPhone 12 and newer (including the 17 lineup). New features reportedly include a standalone Siri app and a system‑wide Liquid Glass opacity slider, with Apple Intelligence features requiring an iPhone 15 Pro or newer. WWDC 2026 is set for June 8 to unveil the OS, with developer and public betas and a September release; Instant Digital has a mixed accuracy track record.
