iPhone users face a new barrier to blocking spam: Apple imposes an undocumented limit on the number of blocked contacts, forcing users to manually clear old entries. With robocall volumes spiking, experts recommend shifting from manual blocking to automated call screening features in iOS 26.
Apple’s software team is reportedly internally testing iOS 26.6.1 for iPhones, following the macOS 26.6.1 release that fixes a Screen Sharing security flaw. The iOS 26.6.1 update would likely bring bug fixes and security patches, possibly addressing a Shortcuts bug introduced in iOS 26.6, with a public release anticipated in the coming days.
Dopamine 3.0 releases the first jailbreak for iOS 26, enabling jailbreaking on iOS 26.0 and 26.0.1 for devices with A12/A13 chips and broadening support to iOS 16.5.1 through iOS 17.3.1. AppleDB provides a full device-to-version compatibility breakdown.
Amazon is removing product-level details from its order emails, downgrading the AI-powered Apple Wallet order-tracking feature that automatically adds orders to Wallet; with vague descriptions like '3 Drugstore Items,' Wallet alerts become largely useless for Amazon shoppers, and there’s no opt-out to restore product details.
iPhone users can largely stop spam calls with iOS 26’s call-screening feature, which offers Never, Ask Reason for Calling, or Silence. Most people should use Ask Reason for Calling to screen unknown numbers, and you can switch options anytime in Settings > Phone > Screen Unknown Callers.
Apple is rolling out a Google Cloud data-permission popup in iOS 26 and iOS 27 for AI features, notifying users when data may be sent to Google Cloud for tasks like shape generation in iWork and other AI features, signaling a shift from Apple’s Private Cloud Compute to Google-backed AI processing while emphasizing security measures tied to PCC.
Apple announced a new App Store option that lets developers offer subscribers monthly payments at a discount typically tied to annual pricing, with a 12‑month commitment. Users can cancel anytime, and Apple will show completed versus remaining payments and send renewal notices. Developers can configure and test these subscriptions in App Store Connect and Xcode, with a live rollout on iOS 26.4+ and related platforms next month; the US and Singapore are currently excluded from this feature.
A status report reveals Jon Prosser has not fully complied with Apple’s discovery requests in the July 2025 trade secrets suit over iOS 26; Apple plans to file a Motion for an Order to Show Cause in the Northern District of Ohio to compel compliance, while Prosser says he has retained counsel and may move to set aside a default judgment. Ramacciotti’s conduct differs, with Apple allowed forensic review of an additional device and ongoing third-party discovery; settlement talks have been informal since October, and a June 10, 2026 status update is on the calendar.
iOS 26 adds a suite of practical, everyday upgrades across Battery, Camera, Messages, Maps and more—from Adaptive Power Mode and customizable snooze durations to new ringtones from Files, partial text copying, visited places in Maps, battery time estimates, on-device screenshot search, lyric translations in Apple Music, screen-call, AirPods as a remote shutter, conversation backgrounds, PDF editing in Preview, a mid-screen back-swipe gesture, satellite weather, lens-clean alerts, HDR screenshots, digital passports in Wallet, and in-Chat polls—making the iPhone feel smarter and more personal.
Apple’s iOS 26 adds a built-in, Siri-powered call-screening feature that acts as a bouncer for unknown numbers. After updating to iOS 26, go to Settings > Phone > Screen Unknown Callers and choose Never, Ask Reason for Calling, or Silence; the tool lets Siri ask why the caller is calling and can show a transcription of the call so you can decide to answer or ignore. FTC’s Do Not Call List can also help; the feature is designed to reduce robocalls without requiring third‑party apps.
A Mashable analysis argues that the supposed iOS 26 backlash may be overstated because Statcounter’s adoption numbers are distorted by a Safari bug that makes iPhones report they’re on iOS 18.7. Most users are still on iOS 18, and the industry is awaiting a fix (likely in iOS 26.3) before the true upgrade rate is known. The piece notes existing discontent with iOS 26 and Liquid Glass but emphasizes that the numbers may be misleading due to the Safari reporting issue.
iOS 26 introduces a new feature called 'Ask Reason for Calling' that intercepts calls from unknown numbers and asks callers to identify themselves before ringing, helping users avoid spam and robocalls. Users can enable this feature in settings and choose from other options like silencing unknown calls or allowing all calls to ring through. This upgrade enhances call screening and user control over unknown callers.
iOS 26 is experiencing unusually slow adoption several months after its release, indicating a potential issue or user hesitation with the update.
Despite being available for nearly four months, iOS 26 adoption remains low, with most users still on iOS 18, according to Statcounter data, though TelemetryDeck reports higher adoption rates. The discrepancy may be due to different tracking methodologies, but overall, the data suggests users are hesitant to upgrade, possibly due to concerns about battery life or other features.
iOS 26 introduces three key upgrades to Apple's Fitness app: expanded Fitness+ with custom plans and multilingual support, manual workout logging for all users regardless of Apple Watch ownership, and Live Activities for real-time workout tracking on Lock Screen and Dynamic Island, enhancing the fitness experience for a broader user base.
