Jessica Chastain's 'Other Mommy' Tops Box Office Despite Record-Low Reviews
Jessica Chastain’s horror film 'Other Mommy' earned $27.5 million in North America and $45.2 million globally in its opening weekend, despite receiving a 19% Rotten Tomatoes score and a D+ Cinemascore grade. The film, directed by Rob Savage and based on Josh Malerman’s novel 'Incidents Around the House,' features a demonic double of a working mother. While critics panned the movie as a disjointed series of jump scares, audiences responded strongly to its viral marketing. The film is currently the worst-reviewed of 2026 but has already exceeded its $18 million budget. Meanwhile, 'Resident Evil' became the highest-grossing live-action film in its franchise, reaching $320.3 million globally.
