Heartstopper Forever Marks the End of a Groundbreaking YA Era
Heartstopper Forever closes Netflix’s LGBTQIA+ YA saga with a cinematic two-hour finale that lets Nick and Charlie grow into adulthood. Creator Alice Oseman and stars Kit Connor and Joe Locke reflect on a decade-long journey that reshaped British YA, the move from TV to film for a more mature, authored feel, and the ongoing importance of diverse queer storytelling. Filmed at Bray Studios, the film weaves Pride moments and real-world issues like trans rights into the finale, as the ensemble transitions from youths to young adults; it debuts on Netflix on July 17.
