NASA's Perseverance Rover has begun the Margin Campaign on Mars, focusing on exploring the origins and significance of Jezero Crater's marginal carbonates over the next 230 sols. After successfully navigating a challenging path through a field of boulders, Perseverance has arrived at Mandu Wall and performed the first abrasion of a rock within the marginal carbonate unit. The Margin Campaign aims to understand how these rocks formed, their alteration over time, and their astrobiological relevance. The mission will involve roving across the marginal carbonates, conducting scientific observations, and drilling up to 4 cores.
