Nintendo’s latest patch to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on Switch 2 adds native display support, eight-player split-screen, faster load times, a nearly instant title screen, and tweaks like Boo’s off-road speed, while Mario Kart World remains a separate, open-world entry that has sold over 15 million copies. The 8 Deluxe update and World’s ongoing popularity show Nintendo intends to keep both titles alive and complementary rather than replacing one with the other, leveraging evergreen games and new content for the Switch 2 era.

Nintendo released a surprise free update for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on Switch 2, adding eight-player local split-screen, CameraPlay support (including online via GameChat), shorter loading times, and enhanced docked visuals, as the game remains part of Nintendo’s evolving Switch 2 lineup alongside Mario Kart World.
