Google’s Phone app flags AI-impostor calls from your contacts
Google is adding a feature to its Phone app that will flag calls that appear to come from one of your contacts but are actually AI impersonations, giving you the option to end the call. The system uses a silent confirmation signal between devices and is enabled by default on Android 12+ starting with Pixel phones, requiring both parties to use Phone by Google and built on end-to-end encrypted RCS. It’s part of the June Android drop and arrives as AI-assisted scams have cost Americans hundreds of millions.
