Scientists think these terraces formed via repeated wet-dry weather cycles, a process linked to a similar pattern found at Pontours, suggesting Mars’ ancient climate included cyclical conditions and a more complex history of water than previously believed. Data from Sol 4865 (April 13, 2026) are being analyzed to distinguish formation mechanisms and refine our understanding of Mars’ past hydrology.
