"MS Drug Offers Hope as Alzheimer's Treatment"
A study conducted by scientists at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine suggests that the multiple sclerosis (MS) drug ponesimod could potentially be used as a therapy for Alzheimer's disease. The researchers found that ponesimod, which inhibits neuroinflammation in MS, also reduced amyloid plaques in the brain and improved attention span and working memory in mouse models of Alzheimer's. The study highlights the potential role of neuroinflammation in Alzheimer's and suggests that drugs targeting inflammation may have therapeutic benefits for the disease.
