Sony is preparing to release system update 14.0 for the PS5 and PS5 Pro by the end of September 2026. The update makes the PSSR 2.0 neural upscaler active by default, improving visual quality without requiring individual game patches. It also introduces restrictions on Bluetooth and HDMI Link for esports setups and aims to improve overall system stability.
Sony’s PS5 Pro system software beta now enables the PSSR 2.0 upscaler by default for all PS5 Pro games, delivering sharper visuals and steadier frame rates without having to manually enable the setting. The feature remains in beta, can be disabled in Settings, and there’s no firm rollout date for a full release.
Sony’s PS5 beta firmware makes PSSR 2.0 the default upscaling for all games on PS5 Pro (with an option to disable), and adds a Bluetooth-off toggle that also disables HDMI link and Rest Mode for esports setups; the beta is region-restricted and a join method is shared online.
Sony's PS5 Pro gains a significant PSSR 2.0 upscaling upgrade, with a system-wide toggle due in March that will allow any PSSR-enabled game to benefit without patches. Early testing in Resident Evil Requiem shows the new upscaler performing close to or better than PC counterparts like FSR4 and DLSS 4.5, addressing prior PSSR issues and suggesting broad future support across current and upcoming titles, potentially extending the PS5 Pro's relevance through the PS6 era.
Marathon will be PS5 Pro Enhanced, using Sony’s Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) to render the game at 5K internally and deliver a sharp 4K image, with PSSR 2.0 reportedly boosting performance ahead of a March 2026 availability window.
