
Trump panel calls for bridges between church and state in sweeping draft report
A 224-page draft from a Trump-appointed Religious Liberty Commission urges a more active role for religion in public life, endorsing greater religious expression in government and schools, repealing the Johnson Amendment, broader conscientious-objection exemptions, and new public-facing religious-liberty initiatives; it also praises certain Supreme Court rulings and invites 15 days of public comment, a move critics say could blur church-state lines and marginalize nonbelievers and minority faiths.
