Capitals lock in rising forward with eight-year, $84M deal
The Washington Capitals signed 21-year-old forward Ryan Leonard to an eight-year, $84 million contract starting next season, with an average annual value of $10.5 million. Leonard had 45 points (20 goals, 25 assists) in 75 games in 2025-26, his first full NHL season, and was the Capitals' No. 8 overall pick in 2023. The deal locks in a talented young player as he nears his prime.
