Tar Heels lose lead scorer as Caleb Wilson suffers season-ending right-thumb injury
UNC freshman forward Caleb Wilson broke his right thumb in a non-contact practice drill on March 5, will require surgery and is out for the rest of the season. He previously broke a bone in his left hand in February and had been nearing a return. Wilson was Carolina's leading scorer (19.8 ppg) and rebounder (9.4 rpg). The Tar Heels, 24-6 (12-5 ACC), had clinched a double-bye in the ACC Tournament and were set to play Duke next.
