Banana Ball at Boise State Triggers Seat Swaps and Heat Safety Fixes
Banana Ball at Boise State Friday caused seating mix-ups—fans bought seats that didn’t exist and were reassigned or moved to standing areas—and left seven people hospitalized for heat-related issues. Complaints about water stations and extreme heat circulated as ESPN cited 170-degree field temps while Boise State noted 101 degrees at the airport. In response, Boise State and Banana Ball announced Saturday changes: more cooling/water stations, hydration reminders, an earlier start time, and refunds plus merchandise gift cards for affected fans, with some receiving priority for next year’s tickets.
