Senate delays funding bill markup as anti-weaponization fund roils GOP
The Senate Appropriations Committee postponed markup of three government funding bills this week as Democrats prepare amendments targeting the $1.8 billion Anti-Weaponization Fund, with Sen. Chris Van Hollen saying he’s drafted amendments to block the fund and related DOJ actions (and possibly address the FBI HQ relocation). Leadership hasn’t settled on bipartisan funding totals for the upcoming fiscal year, and Republicans remain divided as they press ahead with an immigration-enforcement push amid the fund controversy.
