Dutch World Cup referee dies weeks after dismissal amid assault allegations
Dutch World Cup referee Rob Dieperink, 38, died weeks after being dropped from the World Cup amid sexual assault allegations; he had been arrested in London but police later said the evidential threshold was not met and the case was dropped. Dieperink had maintained he was wrongly accused and had cooperated with investigators, and he had recently worked as a VAR official before being replaced by Willy Delajod.
