Deadly Fire at Amur Gas Complex Claims Chinese Contractor, Over 100 Injured
A fire at Russia's Amur Gas Chemical Complex near Svobodny killed a Chinese contractor and injured more than 100 workers. The blaze started in a support section of a pyrolysis unit; primary equipment remained undamaged. Nineteen workers were hospitalized with moderate to severe injuries, and 104 were treated for minor injuries. Firefighting continued with controlled burning of residual gases. Air quality monitoring detected no toxic spikes, and nearby towns were not at risk. A commission was formed to investigate the cause.
