South Tampa’s ‘Pray for Laine’ Campaign Marks a Year of Recovery for Five-Year-Old with Rare Brain Disorder
Laine Nipper, a five-year-old from South Tampa, continues her long recovery from a rare autoimmune brain disorder that left her comatose in October 2025. A community-wide 'Pray for Laine' campaign, initiated by her mother Danielle, has sustained local support through yard signs and fundraisers. After a severe craniectomy and months of intensive therapy in Atlanta, Laine has regained basic motor functions and communication skills, though her future remains uncertain due to the severity of her condition.
