ISRO's Aditya-L1: The Next Mission After Chandrayaan-3 Success

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has announced its upcoming Aditya-L1 mission, which will study the Sun. Scheduled for liftoff in September, the spacecraft will be placed in a halo orbit around the Lagrange point 1 (L1) of the Sun-Earth system, providing an uninterrupted view of the Sun. Equipped with seven payloads, Aditya-L1 will gather crucial information about solar activities and their interplay with space weather. This mission marks a significant stride for India in space-based missions and has the potential to redefine our understanding of the cosmos.

Europe's Top Astronomy Priority: The 'Einstein' Telescope

Astronet, a network of European funding agencies and research organizations, has released a list of recommended astronomy projects for European funding agencies to prioritize. The list includes a new wide-field spectroscopic telescope, support for the Einstein Telescope, and the European Solar Telescope. Space-based missions include a follow-up to the Gaia spacecraft. The roadmap also prioritizes sustainability and diversity in funding decisions. This is the second time Astronet has produced a roadmap for European astronomy, with the first published in 2008 and updated in 2015.
