Fuel Crunch Reaches Russia’s Heartland as Moscow and St. Petersburg Hit Rationing
Russia’s major oil networks have begun nationwide fuel rationing due to a domestic shortage, with Tatneft capping gasoline at 20 liters and diesel at 40 liters per vehicle in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and other regions. Rosneft and Lukoil have implemented similar limits, as Moscow bans jet fuel exports and extends a gasoline export ban. The shortage is linked to refinery outages caused by Ukrainian drone strikes, creating a market that has largely turned inward and threatens domestic supply even in the capital.
