Feds tie Michigan synagogue attack to Hezbollah-inspired terrorism
Federal officials for the first time labeled the March 12 attack on Temple Israel in West Bloomfield, Michigan, as terrorism inspired by Hezbollah. Ayman Ghazali rammed an explosive-laden truck into the synagogue and killed himself after a firefight with security. Ghazali, a Lebanon-born naturalized U.S. citizen, had brothers who were Hezbollah members killed in a March 5 Israeli drone strike. Investigators found pro-Hezbollah content and martyrdom rhetoric in his online activity. Officials say the incident was a targeted attack on the Jewish community and plan increased security around Passover.
