Tom McCarthy, the television voice of the Philadelphia Phillies on NBC Sports Philadelphia, will be absent from calling the remaining games of the Phillies-Marlins series as he will be broadcasting an NFL game between the Las Vegas Raiders and Denver Broncos on Sunday. Longtime Phillies radio announcer Scott Franzke will replace McCarthy, with Rubén Amaro Jr. serving as the analyst. McCarthy will also miss two more games during the Phillies' series against the St. Louis Cardinals and a game against the New York Mets due to his NFL and college football broadcasting commitments.
Former Rutgers defensive back Jason McCourty will join former play-by-play announcer Tom McCarthy in the broadcast booth as they provide commentary for Rutgers' game against Northwestern, marking Rutgers' first appearance on CBS since 2000. McCourty, who is now a TV analyst and co-host of NFL Network's "Good Morning Football," made his debut as a TV analyst for Rutgers last year. Both McCourty and McCarthy are excited for the opportunity to return to their alma mater and call the game, with McCourty expressing his admiration for McCarthy's experience and expertise in broadcasting.
