Elon Musk maps Optimus Gen 3 and a post-scarcity AI vision
At the Abundance Summit, Elon Musk laid out a bold AI/robotics roadmap: Optimus Gen 3 is nearing release with initial production this summer and high-volume output by 2027, backed by a roughly 10‑million‑square‑foot factory and no planned human layoffs. He stressed a “hard takeoff” for AI, highlighting Grok 4.20 as best-in-class for predicting outcomes while noting coding gaps, and outlined Tesla’s Terafab plan for in-house AI chip fabrication, with AI5 due mid‑2027 and future AI6–AI8 expansions potentially powering space. Musk also predicted deflation from AI-driven output and floated a universal high income funded by governments in a post-scarcity economy, where money could become less relevant.
