Murdaugh retrial venue dispute centers on Charleston logistics and evidence integrity
Alex Murdaugh’s retrial for the 2021 murders of his wife and son is facing a venue dispute, with the defense demanding Charleston County and prosecutors opposing it due to logistical costs. Judge Debra McCaslin ruled that the trial cannot remain in Colleton County but has not yet selected a new location. The hearing also addressed evidence issues, including a motion to dismiss indictments based on alleged fabricated evidence and a ruling allowing the use of Murdaugh’s prior testimony.
