Dublin Mourns Glen Hansard at Public Wake
Thousands gathered in Dublin for a public wake to honor Glen Hansard, the Oscar-winning musician who died in a motorcycle crash at 56. His body lay in repose in a wicker coffin at the Baroque Chapel of the Irish Museum of Modern Art in Kilmainham, ahead of a funeral at St. Patrick’s Cathedral on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. local time that will be broadcast by RTÉ and RIP.ie. Attendees shared memories of Hansard’s busking and his work with the Frames and Swell Season; mourners were asked to donate to Dublin’s Simon Community or Ukrainian Action in lieu of flowers.
