Blue Origin beats SpaceX to win multibillion-dollar NASA lunar lander contract

Blue Origin, along with partners Lockheed Martin, Draper, Boeing, Astrobotic, and Honeybee Robotics, has been awarded a $3.4 billion contract by NASA to develop a human lunar lander system for Artemis missions to the moon. Blue Origin's reusable lander called "Blue Moon" was selected to deliver astronauts to the lunar surface for the agency's Artemis V mission slated for no earlier than 2029. The company joins SpaceX as the only other company selected to develop spacecraft to carry Artemis astronauts to the surface of the moon.
