Gulf disturbance set to become a tropical storm as Texas–Louisiana coast braces for impacts

A disturbance in the northwestern Gulf is forecast to strengthen into a tropical storm before making landfall along the northwestern Gulf Coast on Tuesday, triggering Tropical Storm Warnings from Port Bolivar, TX to the Vermilion/Cameron Parish line in Louisiana. The system is expected to bring 1–3 ft of storm surge, 3–6 inches (locally up to 9 inches) of rainfall, and tropical-storm–force winds as it tracks west-northwest at about 5 mph, with center currently around 27.8°N, 91.0°W and roughly 130 miles south of Morgan City, LA.
