Ancient mammoth tusk discovered in UK quarry

Palaeontologists in the UK discovered a 400,000-year-old intact tusk from a Steppe mammoth during a routine visit to a quarry in Cambridgeshire. The tusk, which is well-preserved and bears predation marks, offers insights into ancient predator-prey dynamics. The four-foot-long tusk is undergoing a six-month preservation process at the Fossils Galore museum, where the public can observe the work. The discovery adds to the palaeontologists' previous finds, including a 132-million-year-old Iguanodon dinosaur skeleton. The Fossils Galore museum is seeking to expand to accommodate its growing collection.
