"Astronomers Provide Latest Update on Apophis Asteroid's Earth Collision Risk"

Astronomers continue to monitor the asteroid Apophis, which has a small chance of hitting Earth in 2029 or 2036. While the risk is currently deemed low, the possibility of a collision with another space object could alter its trajectory. Researchers from Waterloo University and Western University have studied the trajectories of 1.3 million known asteroids in the Solar System, concluding that there is currently no chance of any of these asteroids colliding with Earth in the foreseeable future.
