Tuesday night will offer favorable sky viewing conditions for most of us to spot the Sturgeon Moon, the first of two supermoons in August. The Sturgeon Moon, also known as the Red Moon, Green Corn Moon, or Barley Moon, will appear full until Wednesday night. However, some areas may experience less favorable viewing conditions due to lingering clouds. A Blue Moon, a rare occurrence where a second full moon happens within the same calendar month, will take place on August 30. Supermoons appear larger and brighter than normal full moons, and a supermoon can appear 14% bigger and 30% brighter than a regular full moon. The last Super Blue Moon occurred on January 31, 2018, and the next one is expected on January 31, 2037.
