NASA Discovers New 'Super-Earth' in Nearby Solar System

NASA has discovered a new "super-Earth," designated as TOI-715 b, in a nearby solar system's habitable zone, only 137 light-years from Earth. Orbiting a red dwarf star, the planet's close proximity allows for easier observation, with a "year" lasting 19 days. Another potentially habitable planet was also found in the same system. Led by scientists at the University of Birmingham, the findings were published in the "Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society." Super-Earths, larger than Earth but lighter than ice giants, can have various compositions and may not always be habitable.
