"Rare Nova Explosion to Illuminate Wyoming's Night Sky"

Astronomers are anticipating the appearance of a nova from T Coronae Borealis in the Northern Crown constellation, visible from Wyoming this spring or summer. A nova is a brief moment when a flash of light from a binary star system shines brightly in the night sky, and this event is expected to be visible for several weeks. While not as dramatic as a supernova, novae are important for science as they help measure precise distances in space, and T Coronae Borealis is one of only five recurring novae in the night sky, occurring roughly once every 80 years.
