Surprising Serenity: Remote Galaxy Cluster Found in Unexpected Tranquility

Astronomers have discovered a distant and relaxed galaxy cluster, SPT-CL J2215-3537 (SPT2215), which is the most distant cluster observed that is not undergoing violent collisions with other clusters. This cluster, located 8.4 billion light-years away, provides insights into the formation and evolution of these massive structures. The cluster's calm appearance suggests it has been "coasting" for the last billion years, allowing it to relax. The presence of a giant black hole in the center of the cluster does not appear to be preventing star formation, and the isolation of its central galaxy indicates that SPT2215 has not experienced a merger in about the last billion years.
