Thanksgiving Skywatching: Moon, Saturn, and Jupiter Illuminate the Night

This Thanksgiving, families are encouraged to step outside and enjoy the night sky. The waxing gibbous moon will be visible, offering a better view of the lunar landscape than a full moon. Saturn and Jupiter will also be prominent, with Saturn's rings visible through a telescope and Jupiter's four Galilean moons visible with binoculars. Other notable celestial objects include the Summer Triangle, the Great Square of Pegasus, and the constellation Cassiopeia. Some stars visible in the night sky started their journey to Earth around the time of the first Thanksgiving in 1621.
