The Threat of a Rogue Planet to Earth.

Rogue planets, free-floating planets untethered by a star, are thought to be a result of gravitational interactions during the formation of solar systems. Scientists aren't sure how many rogue planets are in our Milky Way galaxy since they are extremely hard to observe. While it is possible for a rogue planet to enter our solar system or even collide with Earth, the likelihood is very low. Passing rogue planets could even bump Earth out of orbit and cause it to become a rogue planet itself. Rogue planets may be capable of hosting their own unique ecosystems and could sustain life under certain conditions.
