Uncovering the Mystery of Planets Sharing the Same Orbit

Astronomers using the ALMA telescope in Chile have discovered a potential "Trojan" planet, a rare phenomenon where a planet shares the same orbit as another planet. The PDS 70 system, located 370 light-years away, already has two known Jupiter-like planets, PDS 70b and PDS 70c. However, researchers have now observed a cloud of debris within the orbital path of PDS 70b, suggesting the presence of a new planet actively forming or already formed. This finding provides strong evidence that two exoplanets can share the exact same orbit, a theory proposed two decades ago. Further study is needed to confirm the existence of the Trojan planet.
