"Upcoming Rare Nova Explosion to Create New Star Visible for a Week"

Astronomers are anticipating the appearance of a "new star" in the night sky, as a once-in-a-lifetime celestial event is expected to occur in the Milky Way's Corona Borealis constellation between now and September. The event, known as a nova, will be the result of an explosive reaction from a collapsed white dwarf star in the T Coronae Borealis binary system. This recurring nova, located 3,000 light-years from Earth, is expected to reach a brightness level similar to that of the North Star and will be visible from the Northern Hemisphere for a few days without equipment and over a week with binoculars before dimming and disappearing for another 80 years. Astronomers will observe the nova using the Hubble Space Telescope and study it through X-ray and ultraviolet light using the Neil Gehrels Swift Observatory.
