The Limit of Earth's Mountain Growth.

Theoretically, a mountain could be taller than Everest, but it would have to overcome challenges such as erosion and gravity. Volcanic mountains, like Mars' Olympus Mons, can grow taller than Everest because they are formed from volcanic processes and have a continuing source of magma. However, even giants like Olympus Mons have a limit, and if the volcano is still active, it's likely nearing the end of its growth.
