Ancient Dinosaur Species Slept Like Modern Birds for Millennia

The discovery of a new dinosaur species, Jaculinykus yaruui, suggests that it slept in a curled-up position similar to modern birds. The fossil, retrieved from Mongolia's Gobi Desert, belongs to the Alvarezsauridae family of dinosaurs, which were closely related to birds. The sleeping posture of the fossil indicates avian-like behavior and adds to the understanding of the comprehensive anatomy of alvarezsaurids. The findings suggest that sleeping position may be another trait shared between dinosaurs and birds.
