Celestial Show: Moon Dances with Venus and Saturn This Week

On Monday evening, November 4, skywatchers can enjoy a celestial display as Venus and the waxing crescent moon appear close together in the southwest sky shortly after sunset. Venus, shining brightly at magnitude -4.0, will be visible about 10 degrees above the horizon, with the moon slightly below and to the left. This striking pair will set approximately 1.5 hours after sunset. Observers may also notice "Earthshine," a faint glow on the moon's dark side. If weather conditions are unfavorable, a similar event will occur on December 4.
